Ms. Akiko Yamaguchi was awarded the Best Poster Award by International Conference Migration 2019.

Ms. Akiko Yamaguchi, a researcher at Center for Computational Science and e-Systems, Japan Atomic Energy Agency, was awarded the Best Poster Award by 17th International Conference on the Chemistry and Migration Behavior of Actinides and Fission Products in the Geosphere (Migration 2019).

The award commended for excellent poster presentations among 222 posters presented at Migration 2019.

The awarded study is about fixation of radium on clay minerals sampled around Ningyo-toge uranium mine. Radium is a fission product from uranium and/or thorium. Behavior of radium in the environment has not been revealed. Ms. Yamaguchi used natural samples to show that radium is fixed by clay minerals in the environment.
